Direct yourself! – Call for applications for African directors

CFI and Keewu Production are launching a call for applications in order to pick out directors from across the whole of Africa and train them to direct their own television series.

In March 2016, Keewu Production will begin filming the second season of the series C'est la vie (That's Life).
The aim of this project is to bring together Africa's best talents in the field of directing. To achieve this goal, CFI and Keewu Production are seeking to train eight directors in the specifics associated with television series.

Like most series, the production process for C'est la vie differs from that of cinematic films, since the episodes are filmed at the same time as the writing and post-production stages. Such an approach is needed in order to shoot high-quality dramas whilst keeping within budget.
This requires the director to be extremely adept at planning the work, whether in the past, present or future. Working quickly and properly grasping the urgency of the situation are just as important as being a talented director.

The aim of this call for applications is to identify directors from across the whole of Africa who wish to take part in a training course as part of the production of an African television series.
The best candidates will then be able to direct one or more episodes of season 2 of C'est la vie.
