An information guide for health journalists

An information guide for health journalists

As part of the Guinea Health News project, CFI and its partner Fraternité Médicale Guinée (Guinea Medical Fraternity, FMG) are publishing a reference brochure for Guinea's health journalists.

Launched in May 2016, this project offers practical workshops for strengthening journalists' know-how and specific knowledge in this area.

To supplement this training, two doctors from FMG – Dr Fatoumata Binta Bah and Dr Mariam Françoise Diallo – have written a guide to provide specific information on various health-related topics, such as malaria, tuberculosis, epidemic diseases, STDs, pregnancy, vaccinations, diet and daily hygiene.
All these issues are tackled in a straightforward way, with practical advice also being given. In a country where maternal and infant/child mortality rates are still high, this guide represents a valuable tool for journalists seeking to deliver clear and appropriate messages to the local population.

The advice that it gives is just as relevant to other countries in Africa.
