Launch of Digital Readings in Beirut

Putting the reader at the heart of editorial strategy and designing new digital formats were among the key topics taking centre stage at the launch seminar.

In an effort to support the production of French-language journalism in Lebanon - where French and francophone culture have had an enduring presence - editors-in-chief, journalists and marketing and community managers from Kelyom, As Safir Al Arabi, Commerce du Levant and Magazine, convened in Beirut from 15-17 March 2018 to discuss three major topics:
- readers and their role in editorial content,
- the online development of high-quality editorial products
- and innovative financing.

Each topic was hosted by two expert journalists from CFI: Cédric Motte and Yann Guégan, both online journalists responsible for designing new digital formats.
The 4 media outlets then turned to a consideration of their development project.

Spelling out these initial issues will have helped to clarify the main priorities of the support programme within the specific objectives defined by the project. French- and Arabic-language Lebanese media generating editorial content in French play a key role in strengthening multilingualism in Lebanon.
