Media 21: new meeting in Bangkok

Media 21: new meeting in Bangkok

The second training session for the Media 21 Asia project is being held from 29 June to 3 July 2015, on the occasion of the Regional Forum on Climate Change in Bangkok. Subtitled Low Carbon and Resilient Societies: Bridging Science, Practice and Policy, the forum will take place on 1-3 July and Media 21 Asia participants are being given the chance to get involved.

Organised by the regional delegation of ASEAN, the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Development, the European Union and the Asian Institute of Technology, the conference is designed to promote dialogue between scientists and policy makers. Research is needed on the urban and rural challenges faced by the region, while the institutions, standards and scientific capabilities required to meet those challenges are not always available. The forum thus aims to bring scientific solutions together with political means, as well as to facilitate dialogue and rapprochement between various national delegations.

Media 21 participants will therefore be able to use the scientific contributions to the conference sessions for their investigations. They will also be invited to take part in the media coverage of the event, so that they can prepare for covering COP21 in Paris in December 2015. They will also enjoy a special private meeting with the ASEAN negotiating team for COP21.

This second training session will also be an opportunity for the media outlets involved to enhance their knowledge of the issues relating to climate agreements, especially those surrounding COP21, as well as to discover new digital resources and progress their investigations alongside specialist journalists.
