ORTM lays the foundations for its 2014-15 development strategy

In 2014, after two years of political crisis, Mali's public-sector broadcaster ORTM is looking to revamp its organisation in order to prepare for the shift from analogue to digital terrestrial broadcasting and ultimately for the expected arrival of competition in the form of new national or foreign channels.

CFI is arranging for an organisational audit to take place in Bamako from 27-31 January.
It will be led by Claude-Yves Robin, formerly Director-General of France Télévisions (France 2, France 5) and now an independent consultant, and Rémi Champseix, a media expert with experience of two previous CFI assignments at ORTM in 2010 and 2011.

Covering the two TV channels and the national radio network, the audit will be followed by the implementation of an 18-month action plan comprising training sessions and tailored advisory programmes affecting managerial and creative divisions throughout the national broadcasting group:

  • regulatory and legal,
  • administration,
  • programming,
  • marketing,
  • news,
  • production,
  • publicity,
  • training and asset management.

Defined in collaboration with ORTM, the action plan will draw on France's TV & radio expertise and aims to support ORTM in its development during 2014 and 2015.
