Syria: CFI to train Radio Rozana correspondents

At the request of station manager Lina Chawaf, CFI and IMS are organising a training course in Turkey for 17 of the Syrian station's correspondents from 21 October to 1 November 2013.

Launched four months ago with support from CFI and the Danish NGO IMS (International Media Support), Radio Rozana broadcasts from Paris with a team of five journalists and relies on some thirty correspondents in Syria itself, most of whom were not journalists before the start of the conflict.

Accessible online at www.rozana.fm and via the Nilesat satellite, the station transmits first-hand news reports with the aim of providing Syrians both inside and outside the country with independent, reliable news on the development of the conflict.

The daily two-hour programme in Arabic provides live news together with reports, analysis and discussions with people within Syria and abroad.
The station's website also provides the international community with a unique insider's viewpoint on Syria in the form of opinion articles and video reports.

Rozana's correspondents will come together for a twelve-day training course in Gaziantep, Turkey, some 60 kilometres from the Syrian border. Led by Euronews journalist Adel Dellal, France 24 internet journalist Maha Ben Abdeladhim, and Radio Rozana sound technician and producer Ahmed Jebali, the course will primarily cover writing techniques for radio and the internet, the production of multimedia content, and how to promote content via social media.
One day will additionally be devoted to security and data protection.
