That’s a wrap for Terra Media

The training scheme for journalists from Madagascan radio stations ended in mid-December 2017 with a competition for awarding the best awareness-raising programmes that had been produced.

Since July 2017, the Terra Media project has helped local journalists to become more professional in their approaches to adaptation issues linked to climate change. Over 380 awareness-raising programmes have been broadcast by radio stations serving ten audience regions, on a national scale. In mid-December 2017, the ten radio journalists, together with the project's partners (local authorities, CSO and NGO representatives), came together at the Institut français in Antananarivo in order to take stock of the project.

The event also saw prizes handed out to the best three magazine shows produced. The radio station RLD was awarded first prize for its programme in rising water levels in the Maroantsetra region. Second prize went to the radio station RSF (based in Ambohimandroso), for a programme on renewable energies.
The Fianarantsoa-based radio station Mampita took third place on the podium, for a programme specifically focusing on changing rice-growing techniques in the Haute Matsiatra region.
