Women better informed about their rights

Women better informed about their rights

Videos on this topic have just been produced as part of the "Qudra" project and are currently being disseminated on social networks.

Informing Syrian refugees and Jordanian host communities, particularly women, about their work-related rights is key to maintaining social cohesion. Thanks to the filmed testimony of Yvette – a mother of three children and pregnant with her fourth – Jordanian women and female Syrian refugees able to work in Jordan have access to information about maternity leave duration and conditions. The example of Yvette shows that it is possible to balance family life, motherhood and work.
The video also explains how to respond and who to speak to if you are the victim of a violation of Jordanian labour law.

Thanks to this video, published online on the Together in Jordan "سوياً فيالأردن" Facebook page and already viewed over 28,000 times, the Qudra project is helping to foster greater social cohesion in Jordan by disseminating reliable information that both Syrian refugees and the host communities need.

It is the first in a series of information content about employment, addressing a range of topics useful to Syrians and Jordanians in their daily lives, such as access to a work permit in the agricultural and construction sectors or the rights available to women who work.

As well as Facebook, this information will be disseminated on WhatsApp through traditional media – notably television – and communicated face-to-face through local partners in order to reach as many people as possible.
