ARAB WORLD - Training course "Women and new media"
Editorial
More than ever, new technologies and Internet act as the carrier for our projects, opinions, lives. Projects for e-business, online publishing, artistic expression or networks of associations are a mere click away. On condition that you have a grip on the tools and the jargon! These techniques and the infinite possibilities they offer can prove to be a daunting obstacle given the importance of economic, generational and gender barriers. The world of information and communications technologies is still heavily male-dominated, with women filtering in only too slowly, even though they are quicker to grasp the assets of this virtual world that frees them from a certain number of constraints.
This training course in new media serves female journalists from the Euro-Mediterranean region and is part of the current development of new forms of expression with the aim of giving them more prominence in the world of new media. Focussing on blog creation, it aims ultimately to lead to a ground-breaking portal of women’s blogs, a place for freedom of expression and the sharing of culture and experience.
The Bibliotheca Alexandrina, an institution born in the digital age, spearheading the development of new technology in the region, is delighted to be playing host to this training course and its participants, thus contributing to making these women of the future “digitally literate” and helping them to express themselves and make their projects and dreams come true.
