FOCUS N° 21 / NOVEMBER - DECEMBER 2009
Editorial
While the French state remains its main financial backer, CFI has a duty to seek other resources in order to fulfil its mission, as well as to ensure its development in general.
By responding to offers to tender released by multilateral organisations such as the European Commission and UNESCO, teaming up with other media cooperation players such as the GRET and the AFP Foundation and bringing operators in the South together to work on a project, as is the case with APPTA in Africa, CFI fulfils two goals: the diversification of funding and the integration of the Millennium Goals into its initiatives in the field.
More generally, by bringing its partners in the South together with its French and European partners for operations to foster professionalism among journalists, promote governance or encourage the production and circulation of local works, CFI is furthering its strategy to support the modernisation of media in Africa, the Mediterranean region and Asia.
