FOCUS N° 10 / OCTOBER 2006
Editorial
Committed to promoting cooperation initiatives, CFI has been supporting the modernisation and development of several televisions across a number of continents, continuing in the vein of the work carried out in Montenegro, Algeria and Madagascar. This FOCUS will give you the low-down on these exemplary initiatives.
In France, meanwhile, the Parliament ratified the Convention on the Protection and Promotion of the Diversity of Cultural Expressions, adopted by UNESCO on 20 October 2005. We welcome the fact that this Convention grants official recognition to the importance of cultural cooperation: “parties shall endeavour to support cooperation (...) in order to foster the emergence of a dynamic cultural sector (...) by strengthening the cultural industries in developing countries (...) creating and strengthening cultural production and distribution capacities (...), through the exchange of information, experience and expertise, as well as the training of human resources, and skills transfer...”.
CFI’s work, entirely devoted to supporting its partners, can thus benefit from significant renewed political and legal legitimacy.
