Wrap-up of the second edition of “Ten days with League 1”: setting sights on the 2010 FIFA World Cup!
After ten days of immersion in the French football scene, the 14 journalists from English- and Portuguese-speaking countries in Africa selected by the French Professional Football League (LFP) and CFI have wrapped up their advanced course on sports reporting and live commentary.
During their stay in France, they were able to work alongside top-level personalities such as Gérard Houllier (National Technical Director when France won the World Cup), Philippe Doucet and Darren Tulett (Canal+), not forgetting François-Charles Bideaux (HBS, director for the 2010 FIFA World Cup). They interviewed Didier Deschamps and Laurent Blanc at a pre-match press conference, and while staying with the League 1 host clubs, drew portraits of Taye Taiwo (Olympique de Marseille), Geraldo Wendel (Girondins de Bordeaux), Asamoah Gyan (Stade Rennais FC), and Gelson Fernandes (AS Saint-Etienne), to name but a few.
Journalists from Muvi TV (Zambia) and TIM (Mozambique) will be putting what they learned straight into practice on Saturday 21 November 2010 by providing commentary for the Grenoble Foot 38 vs. Olympique Lyonnais match, since these TV channels now broadcast League 1 matches.
For CFI, a partner of FIFA and the African Broadcasting Union (ABU), this second edition sets its sights firmly on the 2010 FIFA World Cup. Several of the 24 journalists having participated in both editions of "Ten days with League 1" will be in South Africa to provide commentary for the 64 2010 FIFA World Cup matches to be broadcast by CFI to all African TV channels.
