#PAGOF celebrating Open Government Week from 11 to 17 March 2019!

During the Open Government Week, doers, leaders and thinkers from around the world come together to share ideas on Open Government, discuss solutions and commit to new levels of citizen participation.

The theme of this year's Open Government Week was inclusion – in other words, increasing the number and diversity of partners involved in Open Gov initiatives.

#PAGOF and #OpenGovWeek

As part of this, #PAGOF – the Project for Promoting Open Governments in the Francophone World – took part in the conference organised by the OCDE on Open Government and Access to Information, held on 13 March 2019 in Rabat (Morocco). The aim of the conference was to provide a forum for discussion between OECD countries, sub-Saharan African countries and countries of the Middle East and North Africa region on the success factors for developing more open governments and delivering better public services.

The event was an opportunity to share the experience of #PAGOF partner countries, namely Côte d'Ivoire, Tunisia and Burkina Faso, in the implementation of access to information policies, but also to report back on the support provided by the project in this area. The various contributions focused on:
- Open government as a driver of inclusion (#PAGOF-CFI/Expertise France, Tunisia)
- The role of access to information in promoting transparency (Côte d'Ivoire)
- The role of the media in open government (#PAGOF-CFI/Expertise France, Tunisia)
- Civil society participation in the open government process (#PAGOF-CFI/Expertise France, Côte d'Ivoire and Burkina Faso)

Alongside these, other events were organised by partners of the project:
- Tunisia: a seminar on open data in Tunisia and a seminar devoted to the Open Government Partnership (OGP)
- Tunisia: creation of the OGP Award to reward individuals and national and international institutions that have supported the open government process in Tunisia
- France/Etalab: support session on open source and open data as part of class 3 of the open source et l'open data dans le cadre de la promotion 3 du programme General Interest Entrepreneurs programme.

The event is being held as part of #PAGOF (Project in Support of Open Governments in French-Speaking Africa), a project jointly implemented by CFI and Expertise France with funding from the French Development Agency (AFD).
