Tunisia: two agreements signed

On 29 June 2016, CFI renewed its ties with two of its long-standing Tunisian partners: the Tunis Afrique Presse (TAP) news agency and the African Centre for the Training of Journalists and Communicators (CAPJC).

CFI's Managing Director Etienne Fiatte and TAP's Chairman Hamida El Bour met in Tunis on 29 June 2016 to sign an agreement regarding the mentoring initiatives proposed under the "Modernisation of the Tunis Afrique Presse news agency" project designed to help the news agency in its development:
- which involve training the marketing team,
- providing training sessions on local reporting to journalists working at regional offices,
- restructuring the editorial departments
- and redesigning the website.

Meanwhile, the agreement signed with the African Centre for the Training of Journalists and Communicators (CAPJC) sets out how CFI will assist with the first training programme for Tunisian trainers and the setting-up of a digital platform for media organisations making the switchover to digital – both projects developed on the initiative of Sadok Hammami, Director of the CAPJC.

These initiatives form part of a project for supporting the development of this training centre, which is the only one of its kind in the Arab world.
