Journalists explore the integration of Ukrainian refugees

On 30 and 31 May 2023, journalists from the Yak Vdoma residence travelled to Constanța in eastern Romania to meet civil society organisations actively supporting Ukrainian refugees in the county.

During the meetings, they discussed the impact of the war on the Black Sea environment and economy, the socio-economic integration of refugees and efforts to prevent misinformation. In addition to local journalists and Ukrainian refugees, the journalists met Marian Paiu, Executive Director of Mare Nostrum, an NGO which is monitoring the impact of Russia's war against Ukraine on the Black Sea region's environment.

In addition, they had the opportunity to attend a seminar on the socio-economic integration of young Ukrainians residing in Constanța on a temporary basis. This gave them a deeper understanding of this crucial issue and a broader outlook.

The journalists also took part in activities that The Civic Resource Centre and its partners organised to help Ukrainian children. The purpose of this initiative was to give children time to unwind and interact so that they could ultimately thrive and fully integrate into society.
